BIKE CHECK Colnago

April 23rd, 2010

So, the word on the street is that another Gent has been mouthing off about posting a BIKE CHECK post for a while now.

Here is NOT his Bike Check, but mine:

I ride a COLNAGO DREAM Frame (Columbus Airplane Tube Set).  I know of ONE other frame like this, but that one is prolly in someone’s collection to be ridden on the track, so out on the street, it’s definitely the hottest bike!

WOW.

So lets get into it:

KALLOY UNO Ultralite Riser, Pedal Gent Standard OURY Grips, and a 70mm THOMSON Stem gripping the Carbon Colnago Fork.

As you can see I ride 36h Phil Wood Hubs laced to Velocity Deep-V Rims – also a Pedal Gent Standard.

The Saddle is a Selle SAN MARCO Rolls DUE Saddle strapped into a Miche SUPERTYPE seatpost.

Something special right here, Powdercoated Campagnolo Record Pista Crankset in BLACK: 170mm. Campagnolo Record BB. Gold KMC Chain Z-410.

Campagnolo Record Super Leggeri Pedals & Toe clips. Double Straps (Real shitty ones).

Gearing: 50/17

Awesome Stem.

Not so awesome CRACK in the plate. Oh oh. Within the next few days I hope to send it back to Thomson and hopefully get a replacement Plate. I’ll keep ya posted on how that’s going.

At this point I have to shout out the HUTCHINSONs I’ve been riding. They are MAD GOOD. I’ve been riding them for almost a year and you can hardly tell!

A+ Recommendation though they might be a bit pricey, I wouldn’t know cuz I got’em fo’ free!

I’ll leave you with this shot of the “headbadge” and the incredible low clearance of the fork

Around Town Part 3

April 21st, 2010

This time the journey was more about height than distance. As Zurich is surrounded and interspersed with hills, it’s a nice weekday ride alternative.

Climb up, enjoy the view and have a good descent!

Happy Birthday Frank!

Reppin’ the Pedal Gees

April 10th, 2010

One of our most esteemed fellow members got busy and repped the Pedal Gents hard.

Look for the “insider” shout out within a commissioned piece of graffiti he had the chance to do last week:

(click on the image to see it again and then click on it again to see it larger, and then click on it again to see it very large)

good job! A colorful world IS a better place!

edit: Due to the constant nagging of someone who shall remain nameless here’s a detail shot of the above mentioned Pedal Gents shout out:

PG Pedal Gents

geez, the colors look effed up. But you get the idea.

Around Town Part 2

April 9th, 2010

It’s nice to do the after work rides in the light of the day again. That adds a wide choice of  less maintained routes. It always feels good to go out to the edge of town and back in.

Spring-Cleaning

April 7th, 2010

Spring is finally here. At least I believe it isn’t snowing anymore. For a lot of people that means getting their bike out of the basement. But for the few that rode it all winter it’s cleaning time. Of course dirt on the bike looks cool and increases the street cred. However with all the salt that was dispersed on the roads, maintenance gives your bike a longer life. After taking it apart almost completely, cleaning, greasing and mounting a new chain, I had my first…..let’s say, Spring-Ride today.
